Keep Planting Seeds - by Jeff Reed
A few months ago in the middle of a bad season of life, I ran into a guy from high school. We've known each other for years and we've stayed connected through Facebook. We were both on our lunch break and we talked about life and family. I gave him an Evergreen business card and told him to get in touch with me if he ever needed prayer. He said ok, and then I left.
I received a message from him last Wednesday, asking for Evergreen’s information. Then he asked if I could pray for him and his family. I said yes, and then invited him over to my home, to give him an ear to vent to. We met later that night and he stayed for two hours. [I even left small group early to make it happen.] He shared with me all that was going on and I got to share my testimony with him. He really took it in. We related on certain pain points and struggles in life. When I shared how Jesus has healed so many things in my life, he wanted in. We prayed, and I gave him a Bible, and he left.
The next day, after work, he went to the Evergreen offices and talked to Pastor Jeff. And guess what? He gave his life to Christ!!!!
I'm so excited for him! He texted me that day and called me the other night, telling me he's had that Bible with him everywhere he goes. He's also downloaded a Bible app. I sent him a link to iamsecond.com, and he's been watching other Christian testimonies, and he's just going all in. He thanked me for taking the time to sit and talk with him, and he says he finally has hope that things will work out in his life!
I share this for a few reasons. First, we have a new brother in Christ! That's awesome! Second, I've never seen someone come to Christ. I've always wanted to, but it's never happened. I can't tell you how many times I've loved on people in many different ways, as well as sharing the gospel—but to see nothing happen, at least from my perspective. I just want to encourage you all, no matter where your life might be— KEEP PLANTING SEEDS, SHARING THE GOSPEL, and INVITING PEOPLE TO CHURCH. You never know what act of obedience God will use to win someone's heart. I love you all.
